The Rod Builder's Library

I've been building and selling rods since 1978.  Rod building has never been a business, but more like a paying hobby.  However, I'd estimate that I've built at least 3,000 rods.  I started building in Alaska (30 year resident) and made trout, salmon, halibut and lots of fly rods while living there.  I'm now retired and living full time in Baja, Mexico and limit my builds to rods we use in this area.  Because there is no harbor here, most fishing is done from boats less than 30 feet and therefore mostly stand-up style.  So, most of the rods I make are 51/2'-7' for local conditions.  To me, my work is ART first and fishing tools second. That is to say, that although it's important that form follows function, the thread art is what makes me build rods.
